David Akopov' story
I started my career in food and beverage industry in 2004 at Sheraton brand under Starwood Hotels & Resorts hotels chain, where I spent 5 years on various positions within Food and Beverage department. Afterwards I moved to Radisson Hotel Group and worked for 10 years in 3 Different countries, 4 cities. Starting as a Banquet and Outlets Manager, Assistant FB Manager for Radisson BLU Tbilisi, FB Manager for Radisson BLU Batumi, following Director of FB at Radisson BLU Yerevan Armenia and in charge of 10 outlets at Radisson BLU Abu Dhabi in United Arab Emirates
My Accor chapter started in 2020 as a Cluster Food and Beverage Director for two properties; Mercure Tbilisi Old City and ibis Styles City Centre. Developing bars and restaurant concepts was my first priority, particularly ensuring that food and beverage menus as well as promotions are customized for all types of guests.
Since June 2023 I’ve been working on the pre-opening period for Swissôtel Tbilisi, I am handling Operation departments with pride.
Bringing innovations to hotel service this is something I really do with passion, nowadays the competition among hotels is increasing rapidly, as well as the demands and expectations of the guests. I think our biggest challenge is to maintain the competitiveness and remain market leaders by offering something new and unique.
Creating memorable moments for our guests, taking care of them from arrival to departure, covering all the touchpoints they might have in our beautiful property is my main priority.
Accor is a young and dynamic hotels chain and I like the company’s vision. Accor cares about its employees and always gives a change and possibility to grow within company with true Heartist® philosophy mind. I believe this is the most important aspect that differentiate Accor from the other brands, of course it’s also depends how prepared you are to grow, but if you are set in yourself what you want to do, you will always get an opportunity to do that.
During my career I have developed many employees on various positions in different brands. Seeing them on Managerial positions today, makes me so proud that I was part of it; this feeling is priceless.
Hotelier is a perfect blend of day-to-day business activities and customer service. It imparts the skills of customer service which is the core of nearly every role you are ever going to perform, doesn’t matter you are behind the scene or centre staged.
Working in hospitality you will meet all types of people, from all different places and different backgrounds. With this brings fantastic life experience, you will learn from these people every day and this knowledge will build up over time and stay with you forever.
