Ali Dhifli's story

I always knew I wanted to work in the hotel industry. I love well-maintained and welcoming spaces, and contributing to this atmosphere motivates me every day. Being a hotel gardener was a natural fit for me, as it allows me to combine my passion for green spaces with the pleasure of contributing to the guest experience. It was my first career choice, and I’m excited to be working in it.

I began my career as a gardener out of a passion for nature and manual labor. I didn’t receive any specific training, but learned on the job, working with experienced professionals. Little by little, I acquired the skills, techniques, and best practices to maintain and beautify green spaces.

Today, I work at the Mövenpick Gammarth Tunis, where I am responsible for maintaining the gardens and outdoor spaces. I love my job because I contribute to creating a pleasant environment for our guests. I learn every day and am proud of the progress I have made thanks to my experience and motivation.

What I love about hospitality is contributing to the comfort and well-being of guests. My work in the outdoor spaces has a direct impact on their first impression. It’s gratifying to know that my work contributes to making their stay enjoyable. What I appreciate about Accor is the emphasis on quality, respect, and teamwork. Even as a gardener, I feel included and valued, as everyone has a role to play in providing a successful guest experience. The organization is professional, well-structured, and there’s a true spirit of collaboration.

Hospitality is a great place to work as it is dynamic, human, and rewarding environment. Even in a profession like mine, you feel like you belong to a larger whole and that every detail counts for the customer’s comfort. There’s real respect for a job well done and recognition for effort. This sector is different from others because it requires great attention to quality, presentation, and customer satisfaction. We don’t just do our job: we do it with care, so that the result is impeccable every day. It’s demanding, but very rewarding.

For me, being a Heartist® means practicing my profession with passion, care, and heart, even without direct contact with guests. It means placing humanity into everything I do, even the simplest daily gestures. As a gardener, I contribute to their well-being through a pleasant, clean, and well-kept environment. It also means having a good mindset: working with respect, mutual support, and pride, whether with colleagues or for the hotel’s image.

Some of my greatest moments come from times when the hotel hosted important events or official visits. On these occasions, I was tasked with keeping the gardens immaculate, and I often received praise from management for the quality of my work. These are memorable moments, as you feel your work is truly recognized. My greatest pride is seeing guests taking photos in the gardens, or simply relaxing there. It means that my work brings pleasure to others, even if they don’t see me. I’m also proud of having learned a lot on the job; everything I do today, I built with my own hands and with dedication.

I would advise newcomers to always work diligently and consistently, because in the hotel industry, every detail counts. Even if some tasks may seem simple or repetitive, they all have an impact on the establishment’s image and the guest experience. In a hotel, no one works alone: respect and mutual support between colleagues are essential. Finally, you must remain curious and open to learning, no matter of the role.
